The ruling elite of Portugal, through a statement by Prime Minister António Costa, confirmed plans to send a batch of German Leopard 2 tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Costa said that the official Lisbon is working with the official Berlin to carry out a logistics operation that will allow the supply of parts for restoring and repairing some Leopard 2 tanks from Portuguese stocks.
The Portuguese prime minister did not name the exact number of German tanks that will be sent to Ukraine, noting only that "this will be announced at the appropriate time."
Costa noted that the Portuguese authorities would do everything to be able to prepare all tank assets by the end of March this year.
