The Bureau of Economic Security will conduct joint investigations of economic and financial crimes and will exchange information with the relevant authorities of Lithuania and Latvia
Director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine Vadym Melnyk, Director of the Financial Crimes Investigation Service at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Antoni Mikulskis, Head of the State Tax Inspectorate at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania Edita Janusiene and Director General of the State Revenue Service in the field of economic security.
The meeting took place on May 23, 2022 in Vilnius. The tripartite meeting participants discussed cooperation issues in combating economic crimes in the tax and customs spheres, combating financial fraud, economic cybercrime, and money laundering.
In the memoranda, the representatives of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia provided for participation, in compliance with international and national law, in joint investigations and special operations aimed at protecting the economic interests of each state. They also declared their intentions to exchange information and experience, provide consultancy and mutual support during the processing of requests. During the trip to Vilnius, Vadym Melnyk also visited the Customs Department at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania. Potential directions of the strategic partnership were discussed at the meeting with Director General Darius Zvironas.
Relevant agreements have been reached with representatives of Lithuania and Latvia on the organization of a unique training program for Bureau analysts.

So far, we have initiated and are awaiting responses from the competent authorities on 44 draft memoranda of strategic partnership and cooperation. A similar document was recently signed by the BES and the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. And now - Lithuania and Latvia. I thank my colleagues for the meeting and cooperation," said Vadym Melnyk.
