The number of attempts to bypass sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus has significantly increased in Lithuania. Despite efforts to stop such activities and punish those responsible, dealing with these violations is becoming increasingly difficult.
This was stated by Lithuania's Prosecutor General, Nida Grunskiene, according to Delfi.
Currently, around 50 pre-trial investigations related to sanctions evasion are ongoing, with decisions already made in some cases.
"As of now, if I'm not mistaken, about 50 pre-trial investigations are underway. I know that decisions have been made in some of them. This number shows that attempts to circumvent the sanctions are increasing, and challenges are emerging. But we are working in this direction," she said.
Grunskiene also mentioned that one case related to arms smuggling has already been brought to court.
