Lithuania has extended temporary protection for Ukrainians who fled Russia’s full-scale invasion until March 4, 2028, according to the Lithuanian government’s website.
According to available data, more than 52,000 Ukrainians currently hold valid temporary residence permits in Lithuania.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, nearly 109,000 people who fled Ukraine because of the war have been registered in Lithuania.
The procedure for replacing residence permits remains unchanged, with no additional requirements. Issuing the new documents is free of charge.
The decision was made to bring Lithuanian legislation into line with the EU Council’s decision to extend temporary protection for another year.
On October 5, Lithuania’s Migration Department began replacing the digital temporary residence permits held by Ukrainian refugees. The new documents will remain valid until March 4, 2028.
