Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that reinforcements were sent to the Ukrainian military, who have been holding the defense of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region for several months. The Bakhmut direction remains the hottest section of the front.
"Commander of the Ground Forces Olexander Syrskyi, during a recent trip to the city, decided to move additional units," she said on the telethon air.
According to Malyar, the situation in Bakhmut is complicated and tense. The Russian occupation troops concentrated their main efforts there. They want to try to capture the Donetsk region completely.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Defense stressed that the decision to keep Bakhmut is military, not political.
"Decisions are made by the military, which are not guided by political motives," Malyar said.
At the same time, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar stressed that in the Bakhmut area, the occupiers were forced to replace the "Wagnerites" with Russian army soldiers. The enemy suffers huge losses. Most of the Wagner units were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.
