Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk has set a new personal record and has become the national leader in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.

The 21-year-old Ukrainian rose to 17th place in the women's professional rankings. She surpassed the strongest Ukrainian tennis player in history, Elina Svitolina, who dropped to 21st position.
Kostyuk has updated her own record. Until now, the young athlete has never been ranked so high in the WTA rankings. Moreover, she achieved the second-best result in Ukrainian tennis history. Svitolina was ranked third in the classification in the fall of 2017.
Three more Ukrainian players made it into the top hundred. Dayana Yastremska climbed five positions up to 27th place, while Angelina Kalinina moved up two spots to 46th. Meanwhile, the experienced Lesia Tsurenko dropped 14 positions to 59th place.
The undisputed leader of the WTA rankings remains Iga Swiatek. The Polish player has accumulated 11695 ranking points.
