Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk has wrapped up her run in the singles event of the US Open 2023.

In the opening round match, the 21-year-old Ukrainian faced a comprehensive defeat against Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who ranks fourth in the world.

The match lasted for 1 hour and 23 minutes. Marta won only 25% of points on her first serve, while the Kazakh player had twice that rate.

Kostyuk and Rybakina met for the second time in their careers, and their head-to-head record stands at 1-1.

This marked Marta's 17th match against opponents from the top ten, resulting in her 15th defeat.

In the next round of the US Open 2023, Elena Rybakina will face the winner of the match between Panna Udvardy and Ajla Tomljanovic.

It's worth noting that Marta Kostyuk became the third Ukrainian representative to conclude their performance in the singles event of the US Open 2023. Previously, Kateryna Baindl lost to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, and Angelina Kalinina was defeated by Sara Sorribes Tormo.

In the first round of the US Open, two more Ukrainian players are set to compete - Lesia Tsurenko will face Elise Mertens from France, while Elina Svitolina will take on Anna-Lena Friedsam from Germany.
