Marta Kostyuk exited the WTA500 tournament in Brisbane, Australia. In the second round, the Ukrainian tennis player was defeated by the Russian competitor Daria Kasatkina.

Kostyuk is one of three Ukrainians who started in the main draw of the Brisbane tournament. Alongside Marta, the participants include Dayana Yastremska and Angelina Kalinina, who immediately advanced to the second round and will face the French player Clara Burel.

After securing a victory in the opening round against the Romanian Ana Bogdan, Kostyuk faced Kasatkina for the fifth time in her career. Until now, the tennis players had two wins each in their head-to-head encounters.

In the Brisbane tournament, Marta Kostyuk will continue to compete in the doubles category. The Ukrainian player will partner with Timéa Babos from Hungary.

Their first match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 3, against the pair of Cristina Bucsa (Spain) and "neutral" tennis player Alexandra Panova.
