Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has accused Germany of being too hesitant to choose between good and evil. Including in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Thus, speaking at the Ruprecht and Karl University in Heidelberg, Germany, Morawiecki touched upon the problem of Europe's low readiness to resist the aggressor.
“Putin invaded Ukraine because he thought Europe was lazy, weak. A year later, we see that he was wrong, at least in part. Europe has not yet died while we are alive. But Europe has not won yet,†he stressed.
Morawiecki separately touched upon the problem of Germany's constant indecision, which "hesitates a lot" in matters of assistance to Ukraine.
"The German poet Ferdinand Freiligrath warned: "Deutschland ist Hamlet", Germany is Hamlet. Because Germany hesitates too much instead of clearly standing on the side of good," Morawiecki said.
The Polish prime minister noted that the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, with his pro-Russian policy, endangered the existence of all of Europe. According to him, the desire to get cheap energy resources was a terrible mistake.
"If Ukraine had been focused only on material goods, it would have been exposed to Russian aggression a long time ago. Instead, they thought about themselves as a nation," Morawiecki said.
