American actor and Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke, who expressed support for Putin in 2014, announced the collection of $1 million to support families in Kherson. He shared this information in a video message posted on Instagram.

The 71-year-old Hollywood actor and screenwriter Mickey Rourke is raising $1 million for the reconstruction of buildings destroyed by Russian shelling in Kherson.

"Hello everyone, Mickey is here. Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year, especially to all people in Ukraine. Witnessing the hardships through my assistant Dima, from Mykolaiv, I’m deeply moved to support  ‘One World Aid Alliance.’ Our goal is to rebuild homes in Kherson and bring safety to families enduring these tough times. We’re aiming to raise $1 million and every donation brings us closer to this goal," Rourke stated.

He called on his followers to unite for this cause.

"Your support is invaluable," the actor added.

Mickey Rourke's stance has not always been this way. In August 2014, he visited Moscow and conspicuously wore a T-shirt featuring the image of Vladimir Putin. In the United States, he faced criticism for supporting the President of the Russian Federation.
