The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, in collaboration with leading international expert organizations, has commenced the update of Ukraine's Export Strategy to address wartime conditions and the period of post-war recovery.
“Due to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, Ukrainian producers face numerous challenges. The updated Export Strategy must take into account changes in the structure of the Ukrainian economy, prospects for post-war recovery, the redistribution of export markets, the shift to new regions and specific countries, and the adaptation of Ukrainian production to EU standards and consumer needs. The government’s business support program under the ‘Made in Ukraine’ policy should also contribute to enhancing Ukraine’s export potential,” said Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
Discussions on updating the strategy have already taken place with the participation of Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Ukraine’s Trade Representative, alongside experts such as Valeriy Kokot, Project Leader at TIPSTER; Ralph Lovak from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ); Maksym Boroda, UNDP Project Manager in Ukraine; Valeriy Pekar, UNDP Consultant in Ukraine; and Volodymyr Vlasuk, Director of Ukrexpomzovniespertiza.
“Together with expert colleagues, it is important for us to identify the most promising sectors for the development of export-oriented goods and services, update mechanisms to enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian exports, and shift export structures towards products with higher added value. The state is also expected to support structural changes in the economy, which will be reflected in the updated Export Strategy,” explained Taras Kachka.
During the meeting, the parties discussed methodological approaches to updating the Export Strategy and agreed on the next steps. Future joint efforts will be analyzed by experts, businesses, industry associations, government representatives, and relevant experts in Ukraine.
Background

- Sectoral and cross-sectoral export strategies.
- Consolidation of the roadmap, sectoral, and cross-sectoral export strategies.
