The Kremlin hopes to keep up the momentum of the fighting in Ukraine with a new wave of mobilizations. Moscow is even thinking about attacks on Ukrainian cities.

According to the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Cherevaty, the planned mobilization of the Russians will not improve their position at the front.

"Their main resource remains personnel, so they need a measure to maintain the degree of war and such dynamics, hoping to get some tactical success, and, perhaps, thinking about the upcoming strategic offensive," the military said on the air of the telethon.

In addition, Cherevaty pointed out that the "Russians would not be able to achieve this goal only through "cannon fodder".

Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Russian authorities may announce a new wave of mobilization in mid-January. It is expected that up to 500 thousand people can be called up, and even residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg will be called up.
