Ukrainian breweries Varvar and Mova won eight awards at the International Beer Challenge, as reported on the award's website.
In 2024, 500 beer entries were submitted to the competition in the UK, with 100 receiving gold medals and eight being awarded the highest honor—TROPHY.
One of the trophies went to the Ukrainian Hoppy Lager from Varvar, recognized as the best lager in the category for stronger beers over 5%. Varvar also earned awards in various categories:
- Hoppy Lager — Gold
- Last Summer — Silver
- Golden Ale — Silver
- Zero Stress — Bronze
- Samurai Daughter — Bronze
- Milk Stout — Bronze
"This is already at the level of an Olympic medal, I tell you. Congratulations to everyone involved; you know what to do—support and enjoy," commented beer sommelier and researcher Lana Svitankova.
Also, Mova's non-alcoholic dark beer received a silver award at the International Beer Challenge.
The International Beer Challenge has been held in the United Kingdom since 2017.
