Ukraine has put nearly 40 armored vehicle models into service within its units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of Russia's large-scale military aggression. This includes both domestic and foreign-produced armored vehicles.
This information was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
It is noted that this quantity of equipment has been codified and approved for use in the military by the defense department.
Ukrainian models include modernized versions of Soviet-era BMPs and APCs.
"Codification and approval of samples of armaments and military equipment of domestic production for use with the assignment of a NATO stock number allows their procurement at the expense of the state budget for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," clarified the Ministry of Defense.
Western equipment includes a variety of tracked and wheeled armored vehicles from over 10 countries worldwide. Among them are the United States, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Norway, and others.
The Ministry of Defense specified that this includes:
- Tanks Abrams, Leopard, Challenger,
- Light tank AMX-10 RC,
- Infantry fighting vehicles M2 Bradley, CV90,
- Tracked armored personnel carriers M113 in various modifications,
- Wheeled APCs M1126 Stryker, Rosomak, Puma, and others.
"The Armed Forces note that Western armored vehicle models are distinguished by enhanced crew protection, engine reliability, good mobility characteristics, and high weapon accuracy," the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine added.
The ministry also emphasized that this provides an advantage in confronting the adversary.
