NIBULON has announced the premiere and upcoming theatrical release of a new documentary, “The Bread Captain of Ukraine.”

The film will debut on October 1 at 17:30 at the Zhovten Cinema, Kinoman Hall, as part of the Odesa International Film Festival.

The documentary tells the story of Oleksiy Vadatursky, Hero of Ukraine and founder of NIBULON, highlighting his journey from a small village boy to the head of one of Ukraine’s leading grain export companies. Over three decades, Vadatursky built NIBULON into a symbol of Ukraine’s economic independence, developing a network of grain elevators and transshipment terminals connected by road, rail, and a mixed river-sea fleet.

“My business is proof of what an ordinary person can achieve — if you want it, you can accomplish something great,” Vadatursky said.

The film explores not only his business achievements but also his resilience in the face of numerous challenges, including corporate threats, attempted raiding, and pressure from pro-Russian authorities. It portrays Vadatursky as a figure whose dedication to freedom and dignity mirrors the spirit of the nation.

The documentary was produced by Mykola Ponych, with a screenplay by Ponych, Yaroslav Voitceshek, Oleksiy Komarovsky, and Oleksandr Huzhelya. The rights holder is NIBULON Agricultural Enterprise LLC.

“The Bread Captain of Ukraine” offers an inspiring portrait of leadership, perseverance, and the vital role of agriculture in Ukraine’s national identity.

On September 8, Oleksiy Vadatursky, the founder of NIBULON, would have turned 78, but his life was tragically cut short by a Russian missile that struck his home during the shelling of Mykolaiv in July 2022.
