Ukraine has $6 billion allocated for arms procurement in 2024, including purchases from domestic manufacturers, stated Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn to journalists.
"The entire defense budget for 2024 is about $40 billion. Out of this amount, $30 billion is allocated for salaries and payments to military personnel. After deducting expenses for uniforms and personal protective equipment, $6 billion remains for arms procurement. This is the amount that we currently have in contracts for our producers, primarily Ukrainian ones, and it is very little, considering that our production capacities are three times larger," said Kamyshyn.
He noted that Ukraine is negotiating with foreign partners to purchase Ukrainian military products using their funds, with the subsequent transfer of this equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kamyshyn also mentioned that Ukraine is ready to meet its needs through domestic production for various positions. In 2024, this includes armored vehicles, all types of unmanned systems (ground, aerial, maritime), and artillery systems.
