Between August and November 2023, as part of the project activities of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (#DCAF), 25 in-depth training seminars on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) were successfully conducted for the sergeant staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These sessions were made possible through the support of the governments of the Republic of Finland and the Swiss Confederation.
This information is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During this period, the training covered over 1,000 military personnel of various branches and types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in locations dedicated to restoring combat readiness and conducting combat coordination for personnel.
It is worth noting that the project activities of DCAF on the organization and conduct of IHL training have taken on a systematic character and significantly increased the effectiveness of the existing training system for the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on this topic. The IHL sessions within the project are conducted in close cooperation with the relevant units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This provides a unique opportunity to enrich the knowledge of personnel not only with advanced international practices in IHL but also with the practical experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gained during combat operations with Russian occupation forces.
