Ukrainian PetTech startup Petcube has announced the launch of Petcube Cam 360, a camera that allows monitoring of pets with a 360° rotation feature.
According to co-founder Yaroslav Azhnyuk's LinkedIn post, the original Petcube Cam was highly successful and broke sales records. The only way to improve it was by adding a 360º camera rotation. The design pays homage to Ukrainian artist Kazimir Malevich.
"The design is a tribute to Kazimir Malevich and his work 'Black Circle,' also known as 'Project 1915,' which he created in 1923, exactly 100 years ago. Historically, Malevich was mistakenly classified as a Russian artist, which is another example of Russian imperialism. We hope our work will help everyone discover the fact of Malevich's self-identification as a Ukrainian and his immense influence on visual culture worldwide," wrote Azhniuk.
The key difference between Cam 360 and the regular Petcube Cam is the ability to rotate the camera. Cam 360 supports rotation up to 350º horizontally and 55º vertically, making it the first Petcube camera with a flexible viewing angle.
Another feature is the "Private Mode," allowing users to easily block the camera's view without the need to disconnect it from the network. This function provides additional privacy at home.
The price of Petcube Cam 360 on petcube.com and Amazon is $52.99, but currently, there is a discount, reducing the camera's cost to $41.99. The product is expected to be available in Ukraine at the beginning of 2024.
