The jury announced the winner of the Works in Progress Stockholm International Film Festival 2022, supported by the Odesa International Film Festival.
The jury consisted of top Swedish filmmakers: director Daniel Espinosa, producer Fredrik Zaner and filmmaker Siri Hjorton Wagner.
They chose a winner from 10 presented projects, which are at any stage of production and belong to different genres.
The winner of Works in Progress was the project Pride is not available in your region by director Maksym Nakonechnyi and producers Yuriy Dvizhon, Oleksii (Ljosha) Chashchyn, Anastasiia Alieksieieva. The project received a prize of 100,000 kroner.
âThis contemporary and unapologetic project is told from the perspective of the community it describes and impressed the jury by making visible the small and big questions within the LGBTQI+ community in Kyiv, Ukraine during the occupation. One of the qualities of this pitch lies within the intent of the filmmakers own question; war is the most intense and devastation experience one can go through. But can it also be the most liberating? We hope the prize money will help the project to develop further and explore this subject in more detailâ, the jury commented on their choice.
The Stockholm International Film Festival took place on November 9-20, 2022.
