The Russian army violated the "Easter ceasefire" declared by the Kremlin over 2,000 times, launching dozens of assaults and more than 1,000 shelling attacks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement, reporting that as of 8:00 PM (20.04.2025), the Russian army had breached the "Putin ceasefire" more than 2,000 times since the start of the day.
According to Zelensky, there were:
-
67 Russian assaults on Ukrainian positions along various fronts, the majority of which occurred in the Pokrovsk region,
-
1,355 Russian shelling incidents, with 713 involving heavy weaponry and 673 involving the use of FPV drones by Russian forces.
The president emphasized that Russia failed to uphold its promise of silence on nearly all major fronts.
"Russia couldn't even last an entire day before violating the agreement, which we proposed for a full ceasefire from Easter onward for 30 days," Zelensky remarked.
Putin's "Easter ceasefire" was announced on April 19 and was meant to last for 30 hours, until midnight Sunday. The Russian president called on Ukraine to join the ceasefire but simultaneously instructed Russian troops to be prepared for "provocations" from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian government responded skeptically to this initiative.
