The album of Crimean Tatar songs, QIRIM by Jamala, has secured the 6th position on the World Music Charts Europe, a global music chart. Jamala shared this news on December 4th through her social media.
Jamala mentioned that this chart represents national broadcasters and receives over 250 albums from around the world every month.
"It is incredible for me to be among the top 10 albums alongside other European artists. Today, QIRIM can be heard on the radio in the Czech Republic, Turkey, Georgia, the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Jordan, Greece, Latin America, Germany, the USA, Canada, and even Japan," she wrote.
Jamala presented the album in May 2023, consisting of 14 Crimean Tatar songs from various regions of Crimea.
World Music Charts Europe was established in May 1991 by 11 radio producers from 11 countries on behalf of the World Music Workshop of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Each month, experts from 24 European countries select their top 10 favorite tracks from their playlists, and after discussions, the chart's website publishes a list of the top 20 releases.
In addition, the album Qirim has been selected for consideration for the Shevchenko Prize in 2024.
