Ratified the agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the financing of the second urban transport renewal project.
The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, with 298 votes in favour, adopted a law on the ratification of the financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the project "Urban public transport II".
According to the agreement, Ukraine, within the framework of the "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II" programme, will attract a 200 million euro loan from the EIB to upgrade the public transport fleet in 18 cities.
As part of the project, it is planned to upgrade the parks of trams, trolleybuses, electric buses, as well as subway cars of city utilities and build tram lines.
Recall that in November 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decree on raising a loan from the EIB for the implementation of the Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II project in the amount of 200 million euros, which will be used to renew public transport parks in Ukrainian cities.
18 cities-participants of the project were preliminarily identified. These are Severodonetsk, Vinnitsa, Uzhgorod, Cherkassy, ââKremenchug, Bila Tserkva, Melitopol, Kamianske, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Lutsk, Zaporozhye, Lviv, Poltava, Odessa and Chernivtsi.
