Deputy Head of the Office of the President Roman Mashovets discussed with Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda the ways of implementing the agreements in the sphere of security and defense reached during the phone call between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida on January 6, as well as the needs of the Ukrainian defense forces that can be met by the Japanese side.
Roman Mashovets informed the interlocutor about the current situation on the front of the Russian-Ukrainian war and further plans of Russia to continue the armed aggression, especially on the preparation of Russian troops for new offensives.
The needs that can be met by the Japanese side in the framework of assistance to Ukraine in countering Russian armed aggression were discussed with the Ambassador of Japan.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized the importance of international support for Ukraine for the end of the war, restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state and peace and security in Europe.
Roman Mashovets thanked Japan for its unwavering position on stopping Russian aggression and supporting our country at the international and bilateral levels.
Kuninori Matsuda assured of Japan's readiness to further provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine.
The parties agreed to continue coordination of joint actions and development of cooperation on security issues.
