The situation is escalating in the Russian Federation itself and in Belarus. Recently, drones have begun to fly more and more often, falling in the areas of military bases, fuel bases, and airfields. What process is going on? Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in reserve, military instructor pilot Roman Svitan, in an interview with Unian, spoke about why drones began to fly over Russia.
"Based on the footage the Russians showed, standard 2x3 meter aircraft-type drones were seen there. About a dozen countries produce them. They are easy to manufacture and cheap. We will say that some kind people have established the production of such drones, put them on stream. Naturally, they are in sufficient quantities now. Aircraft-type UAV can carry up to 20 kg of explosives - mines, anti-tank grenade launchers. It performs aiming very well, reaches the target, the effective scattering area is small, therefore locators practically do not see it. The drone performs a drop of combat equipment and can simply fall further."
The expert also said that such tactics can be called the tactics of "small cuts"
"This is what it is. The fact is that Russia simply does not have air defense. It is impossible to embrace this country, it is huge, so they need tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of anti-aircraft missile systems to close the sky. This is unrealistic to do. If you set a task, collecting them in a hundred years is impossible. So they just don't defend. All the existing air defense systems are now at the front or point-wise to cover critical places. Therefore, such aircraft fly around Russia as if at home.
The Russians should definitely be afraid. They will somehow try to shoot down these drones. The fact is that before entering a military facility, it can be shot down by some kind of air defense system, aircraft, fighters. And all this can already fall on the heads of civilians. In this sense, the Russians should already look for a bomb shelter and respond to the sounds of an air raid."
