The Russian army struck the Chernihiv region on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3. Three people were reported dead, including a 6-year-old child.

This was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

According to preliminary information, the Russians attacked the border area of the Koriukivskyi district. They hit a car carrying liquefied gas for people with a drone. As a result of the strike, the gas cylinders exploded, and residential houses caught fire.

Three people have already been confirmed dead, including a 6-year-old child. There are also reports of four wounded: a 4-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and two men. They were hospitalized.

Russian forces invaded the Chernihiv region at the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Chernihiv was one of the first cities to endure heavy shelling and attacks by Russian forces. Although the city was not fully occupied, the region suffered significant infrastructure damage, and Russian forces maintained control over parts of the region for some time.

While Russian troops have left the region, it continues to experience shelling and airstrikes due to its proximity to the Russian border.

The two children have been stabilized and transferred to the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital. Their condition is critical.
