Servicemen of the Belarusian Armed Forces categorically refuse to take part in the war against Ukraine. To quell the protests, military commanders began appointing Russian officers to senior positions in the army. Police officers and their families go abroad. The conscription campaign launched by the Belarusian authorities has caused panic among the population.
In some units stationed in the Brest region, riots are taking place - servicemen, including officers, express their unwillingness to participate in the war against Ukraine. The number of Interior Ministry officers leaving the country with their families has also increased.
To stabilise the situation, lower-ranking and senior officers appointed to the Belarusian Armed Forces began arriving from Russia.
The general psychological state of the population of Belarus was negatively affected by Lukashenko's decree on February 24, 2022 on the conscription of reserve servicemen. The civilian population does not believe the official state propaganda, which tries to disavow the true purpose of this decree - it says about its planning and that the appearance of this decision is not related to Russia's attack on Ukraine and possible involvement in the war in Belarus.
There are rumors about a temporary departure from Belarus until Russia's war against Ukraine ends among the Belarusians who fall under the decree.
