Russian forces continued their assault on Ukrainian cities and villages over the past day, targeting civilian areas in both Kharkiv and Donetsk regions with drones and guided bombs. At least five people were killed and eleven injured, including a child.
Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv region, four people sustained injuries in a series of Russian attacks on June 23, including a 15-year-old girl. According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the victims include a 46-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man in the city of Kharkiv, and a 65-year-old woman in the village of Ivashky, Bohodukhiv district.
The strikes targeted the Nemyslianskyi and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv using a combination of seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), three guided air bombs (GABs), two Shahed-type drones, seven Geran-2 drones, two FPV drones, and additional UAVs including a Molniya-type.
In Kharkiv, the attack damaged 17 private homes, a hospital, a civilian enterprise, six vehicles, power lines, utility structures, and a garage. Nearby cities and villages were also affected:
- In Derhachi, three apartment buildings and four vehicles were damaged.
- In Kupiansk, three private houses, a garage, a summer kitchen, and an outbuilding were hit.
- In Borova, two private homes and a garage were affected.
- In Ivashky, a multi-story apartment building was damaged.
Donetsk region
The situation was even more deadly in the Donetsk region, where Russian attacks on June 23 killed five civilians and wounded seven others. Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that two people died in Kostiantynivka, two in Pokrovsk, and one in Zoloti Prudy.
The total number of confirmed civilian casualties in Donetsk region now stands at 3,284 dead and 7,360 wounded, excluding figures from Russian-occupied Mariupol and Volnovakha.
Drone Strike on Kramatorsk
In the early hours of June 24, Russian forces targeted industrial facilities in Kramatorsk with six Geran-2 drones. The attack occurred at 2:42 a.m., according to Kramatorsk City Military Administration head Oleksandr Honcharenko. Preliminary reports suggest no injuries, though the extent of material damage is still being assessed.
These attacks underscore the continued targeting of civilian infrastructure and urban centers in Ukraine by Russian forces, often resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction. Authorities continue to respond with emergency services and damage assessments across the affected regions.
Dnipropetrovsk region
Russian forces struck Nikopol district in Dnipropetrovsk region overnight and in the morning, injuring four people and causing property damage, according to Serhii Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.
The attacks targeted the city of Nikopol as well as the Marhanets and Myrove communities, using artillery and FPV drones. Among the injured are two women aged 34 and 40 and two men aged 36 and 44. All are receiving outpatient care.
The strikes damaged an administrative building, a multi-storey residential building, two private houses, and a shop.
