There is such a wonderful film "Voyage of the Damned" is a 1976 British drama film directed by Stuart Rosenberg. Several thousand wealthy European intellectuals and pacifists decide to leave Germany after Hitler's attack on Poland, the Anschluss of Austria and the appearance of concentration camps.
Throughout the film, intellectuals make a journey across the ocean, discuss politics, talk about literature and art, start love affairs with each other, plan where to invest their savings exported from Europe, quarrel, and make peace. They are convinced that they left Germany in time, that they are now safe, and ironically discuss those who remained, waiting and hoping for something else.
The passengers of the ship cannot be called anti-fascists since they are not fighters against the regime, they make racist and anti-Semitic statements and discuss the suffering of the inhabitants of the occupied countries and the victims of concentration camps only from a philosophical point of view. It's just that the war hurt their own interests, so they decided to find a quieter place. The end of this movie is quite sad.
Yerevan is now simply "exploding" from the number of Russians who have decided to sit out the war in a calm and safe Armenia.
Citizens of Russia are leaving the country en masse due to the total sanctions of the West, the actual isolation from external civilization and the lack of prospects. Most Russians do not have a passport, so they flee to Armenia, an internal passport regime.
A Russian Artem Vazhenkov living in Georgia told this. The day before, he was on a working trip to Yerevan and assessed with his own eyes the humanitarian crisis that the Putin regime has created with its invasion of Ukraine.
I spoke with the owner of one inexpensive hotel. He says: "Booking does not have time to process bookings. It can issue confirmation to three people at once to the same room"
People from Russia and Belarus are running. They are running without looking back, just to leave, and come what may," he said
Vazhenkov added that he managed to talk with the fugitives themselves. The main segment is young, educated professionals, small business owners, and students. In unison, all of them curse the Russian government, convinced that it has ruined all hopes for the restoration of a full-fledged capitalist state of Russia with a strong economy and social environment.
The hope that something can be restored collapsed. In place of hope came the understanding that at least some prospects were killed in Russia, the future was killed. A huge ocean of hopelessness, hopeless vegetation
