In the case of the capture of the Kyiv region, the Russian occupiers planned to establish an occupation administration here and organize a pseudo-referendum to proclaim a local republic. They wanted to register all residents and forcibly hand out Soviet passports in exchange for Ukrainian documents, at least for the first time before the Russian documents were issued.
This is evidenced by the data obtained by the SBU's military counterintelligence on the invader's positions and the behavior of Russian soldiers in those parts of Ukraine currently under their occupation.
In particular, an enemy cache with passport forms of the former USSR was found. It was set up in an abandoned house near the town of Makariv in the Bucha district.
During his inspection, police confiscated hundreds of blank Soviet passports.
It is noteworthy that these forms were of the Ukrainian model - on behalf of the USSR. That is, all the inscriptions on them are made not only in Russian but also in Ukrainian. Moreover, such a series has not been produced in Ukraine since 1990. Thus, all the found forms were imported from Russia at the beginning of the full-scale aggression against our state.
Urgent investigative and operational actions are underway to establish the crime's circumstances and bring the perpetrators to justice.
