The Security Service of Ukraine is currently conducting a pre-trial investigation into 2,882 criminal proceedings related to Russia's open military aggression against Ukraine.
"We are talking about crimes related to Russia's military aggression. 29 criminal proceedings have already been sent to court. From the general array it is possible to single out 1694 cases opened for violation of the laws and customs of war, ie under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code", - the Head of Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov declared.
According to him, the SBU is currently documenting the facts of mass extermination of residents of Bucha, Irpen, Gostomel, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Mykolayiv and other settlements.
"The geography of crimes is different, but their essence is the same. Wherever the Russian army appears, it brings death and destruction. Killings of civilians, rape of women and children, mass shootings, looting⦠This is the true face of the Russian Federation. Or rather - her beastly grin. Because a normal person can't even imagine that," the SBU Chairman emphasized.
Occupying crimes are characterized by the ill-treatment of civilians, torture and premeditated killings, the use of illicit weapons, shelling and destruction of civilian and critical infrastructure, and more.
The largest number of episodes are criminal proceedings against Russian military crimes in Bucha, Mariupol, and Kharkiv region.
Therefore, the Ukrainian special services have already reported the suspicion to 900 people. Of these, 627 are Russian citizens, including Russia's top leadership, a number of State Duma deputies, propagandists, cultural figures, and 219 servicemen. In particular, among them are three detained enemy pilots who bombed Kharkiv, Balakleya, Kupyansk, Izyum, and Konotop.
"Our task is to make every effort to ensure that the occupiers receive the inevitable punishment for each of their crimes. In this context, the coordinated work of the entire law enforcement bloc is extremely important. We are running it nationwide, and I am sure that it will give its result," Ivan Bakanov stressed.
