Between July 1 and October 19, 2025, the European Union imported a record volume of mustard seeds — 33,000 tons, 38.6% more than during the same period last year.
According to Mundus Agri, citing European Commission data, the import value for this period was €18.723 million (down 4.8%), while the average import price fell 30.5% to €0.57/kg compared with the same period last year.
Canada was the main supplier to the EU, exporting 8,500 tons, up 3.2% from the previous year, reaching a ten-year high. Russia ranked second with 7,380 tons (+511%). Brazil supplied 6,700 tons this season, compared with no deliveries last year.
Ukraine exported 5,200 tons of mustard to the EU, 50.2% less than last year. Kazakhstan ranked fifth among suppliers with 4,700 tons (+40%).
Belgium remains the EU’s largest buyer, increasing imports by 253.1% to 13,770 tons compared with last year. Imports by Poland also rose 65.3% to 8,810 tons, while Germany reduced its purchases by almost 20% to 5,820 tons.
