In the first two months of 2024, the Ukrainian defense industry complex produced approximately 200,000 FPV drones.
This was reported by Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Anna Hvostiar in a comment to Forbes. She mentioned that this year, production capacity is expected to reach 2 million drones of various types, including FPV drones.
According to Hvostiar, development is underway for wing-type FPV drones and lightweight reconnaissance drones, which can be considered analogs of Mavic quadcopters.
FPV drones are becoming increasingly prevalent in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It was recently reported that units of the Security Service of Ukraine have begun using such drones to attack the logistical assets of the adversary.
Judging from the footage of their use, the new drones are equipped with both day and night optics for conducting operations in various conditions.
It is known that the drones are capable of carrying a payload of up to 4 kilograms over a distance of 40-50 kilometers.
Russian sources, which have already encountered this type of drones, note that they are most likely used together with relay drones to effectively operate at maximum distances.
Recall that according to Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are expected to receive over a million FPV drones throughout 2024.
