Since the beginning of the war, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service have neutralized more than 75,000 munitions, said First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin during a briefing at the Ukrinform news agency.
"75,000 munitions and about 2,000 air bombs were found and neutralized. More than 13,000 hectares of the country's territory have been surveyed and cleaned - that's almost 20,000 football fields," said Yevhen Yenin.
In addition, units of the explosives service of the National Police, during demining activities in the Kyiv region, neutralized almost 5,000 items that cause death.
"The enemy is literally planting mines in the cities he once occupied. This is due to the relative cheapness, simplicity and efficiency of use and the fact that they can cause significant losses of manpower. Unguided minefields and grenades on stretchers are left behind even in apartments and houses. First of all, these mines kill civilians. But civilians are also a goal for the Russian troops," said the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Eugene Yenin stressed that the maximum possible number of SES pyrotechnics is used every day to demine large areas and objects contaminated with explosive devices.
"In order to speed up the cleansing of settlements and territories from deadly objects, the issues of involving demining specialists from the Danish Refugee Council, UNDP, the non-governmental British-American charity (HALO Trust), MAG and other international and non-governmental organizations are being considered."
