The Trade Union of Road Hauliers of Slovakia (UNAS) has decided to resume the blockade at the border with Ukraine starting from noon on Monday.
This decision was reported by Aktuality.
UNAS has decided to resume the protest at the "Vyshne Nemecke – Uzhhorod" checkpoint from 15:00 on Monday, December 11, "until further notice."
They plan to block the entry of freight transport into the territory of Slovakia, while promising not to restrict passenger traffic.
The key demand of the blockaders, similar to the protests by Polish carriers, is the restoration of the permit regime for Ukrainian carriers.
Slovak carriers joined the blockade for the first time on December 1 and threatened to fully block the checkpoints if their demands were not addressed.
The European Commission stated that they are against the restoration of the permit issuance system for Ukrainian long-haul drivers.
