The counterintelligence division of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained another coordinator of Russian strikes on Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region. He was a 41-year-old unemployed local man who was recruited by the FSB in February of this year.

Under instructions from the Russian intelligence agency, the agent was to identify and relay the coordinates of operational airfields of the Defense Forces to the Russians.

Another of his tasks was to determine the "schedules" of takeoffs and landings of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s aircraft, to enable strikes on the airfield when the maximum number of equipment was present.

To carry out the hostile mission, the agent set up an “observation post” on the roof of a private house, from which he spied on the flights of Ukrainian military aviation using binoculars.

SSU counterintelligence exposed the agent and documented his crimes.

After conducting special security measures to protect the Defense Forces’ locations, SSU officers detained the traitor at his place of residence.

The investigation established that the suspect was recruited by the Russian intelligence service via Telegram. An FSB officer offered him cooperation in exchange for “quick earnings,” which the traitor never received. Currently, SSU investigators have informed the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).

The offender is held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
