The counterintelligence unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another suspected Russian agent in the Kyiv region. The suspect, a driver for a logistics company, allegedly helped the FSB coordinate strikes on local energy facilities.
Among Russia's main targets were combined heat and power plants in the capital region that were being restored after previous attacks.
To assess the current condition of the energy infrastructure, the suspect allegedly used work-related trips as cover to drive around the perimeters of power plants and photograph their exteriors with his mobile phone.
He then returned home, compiled the photographs, linked them to coordinates on Google Maps and prepared the information, together with his own comments, for transmission to his FSB handler.
SSU officers documented the suspect using his truck to gather intelligence on the progress of repair work at a power unit of a local combined heat and power plant. He was detained while preparing a report for Russian intelligence.

According to the investigation, the suspect first attracted the attention of Russian intelligence services after posting anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channels.
Following his recruitment, he communicated with the FSB through a specially created chatbot used by the Russian intelligence service to collect information.
In addition to helping coordinate strikes on energy facilities, the suspect allegedly monitored the locations of repair bases used by Ukraine's Defence Forces.
During searches, officers seized two mobile phones from the detainee, one of which he had attempted to destroy to conceal evidence of his cooperation with Russian intelligence.
The suspect remains in custody without the possibility of bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property if convicted.
