The online Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art opens the exhibition 'This Show is Curated by a Machine'. The Odessan artist Stepan Ryabchenko takes part in the exhibition.


The Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art (mowna) opened their final show of the year This Show is Curated by a Machine. The show is curated by an artificial intelligence which learned to curate by looking at artworks from the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2021 Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art Biennial, and other sources an exhibit of around 88 international artists from 44 countries . The Artificial Intelligence curated exhibition opens with a talk on the development of the AI model followed by a Q&A with the AI Team: IV (Ivan Pravdin) and museum co-founders Cari Ann Shim Sham and Joey Zaza.

We are interested in creating a machine that can curate in diverse and ethical ways that are not based on white supremacy or structures of inherent racism

Stepan Ryabchenko has been working with digital mediums from the start of his career, exhibiting at places like the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Changwon Sculpture Biennale.

Much of the art world is affected and influenced by these two issues. Therefore, mowna asks whether it is possible to create an AI that looks at art and curates it with diversity, justice, and inclusion
