German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock directly appealed to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry to stop the war against Ukraine.

She made this call during the session "The Role of the G20 in Addressing Ongoing International Tensions" at the level of foreign ministers in Rio de Janeiro.

"Dear Mr. Lavrov! If you care about human lives, if you care about your people, Russian children and youth, you must end this war now. If Russia stopped this war now, the path to peace, to justice, which we all demand, would open up," said Baerbock.

She added that President Putin repeatedly proves that human lives mean nothing to him in his imperial ambitions - both abroad and at home, where he does not hesitate to arrest children and young people who lay flowers in memory of Alexei Navalny.

On the eve of the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the diplomat noted that everyone should be grateful to brave men and women defending Ukraine for pushing Russian warships out of the western part of the Black Sea, allowing the resumption of food exports.

Baerbock stressed that Russian aggression is not just a regional conflict. It is about defending basic principles: the UN Charter, international law, and human rights, emphasized the head of the German Foreign Ministry.

She assured that she respects different views of different countries on the war in Ukraine, understands that a country located 10,000 kilometers from Kyiv has a different sense of urgency about this security threat than a country in Europe. However, Baerbock called for working together to shape a just future.

"If we want to create a just world, then we must fight wars and crises together," Baerbock urged.
