Surgeons participating in the international Face the Future Ukraine project, which includes specialists from Canada, the USA, and Ukraine, will conduct an additional 30 facial reconstruction surgeries during their fourth mission.
According to a press release from the Patients of Ukraine Foundation, the fourth mission will take place in Ivano-Frankivsk in early October.
During the previous three missions, surgeons operated on over 100 Ukrainians with mine and blast injuries. Some patients received custom implants to replace missing bone fragments.
The surgeries involved reconstructing parts of the nose, preparing patients for ocular prosthetics, and removing facial scars.
The Face the Future Foundation project is a collaboration with organizations such as Face The Future Foundation, Razom for Ukraine, Still Strong, and partners including the Patients of Ukraine Foundation, War Trauma Rehabilitation Project, Ukrainian Association of Endoscopic Head and Neck Surgery, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Healing The Children North East, Umana, supported by the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine, Metinvest, Nova Ukraine, Materialise, Yellow Blue Force Foundation, Transmed, and Medtronic.
