According to the 9th National Survey conducted by the Sociological Group "Rating" on April 26, 2022, 20% of the adult population said they had to change their residence (this figure has been stable since mid-March). Most of those who are forced to leave are in the eastern regions (58%) and among young people (33%).

  • Since the beginning of April, the number of those who plan to return home has decreased slightly (from 29% to 22%). Instead, it increased the number of those who would like to return, but a little later (from 24% to 31%). The number of those who intend to return home has not changed, but after the end of the war (43%).
  • There is a gradual increase in the number of Ukrainians returning to work. Currently, 59% of those who had a job before the war continue to work (46% in March). In particular, the number of those who work in the usual mode has increased (from 23 to 32%). 24% work part-time or remotely, and 3% have started working in a new job. Most of those who work now are residents of the western and central regions (about 60%). Among the inhabitants of the south work 52%, the east - about 40%. The gradual recovery of employment is observed in the center, south and east. In the west, on the other hand, the situation has stabilized since the beginning of April.
  • At the same time, 39% of those who had a job before the war still do not have a job (53% in March and 41% in early April).
  • Half of the respondents (54%) who lost their jobs during the war believe that they will be able to return to their previous jobs. 40% do not believe. Most of the latter are among villagers, senior respondents and women.
  • Notably, two-thirds of respondents who lost their jobs due to the war are willing to change jobs. 58% of respondents do not mind retraining for another profession, and 49% are ready to work in another region of the country. Most of those who are ready to change their profession and place of work among the inhabitants of the eastern regions.
  • 70% support the possible mobilization of conscripts of certain professions to rebuild the country instead of serving in the army. Do not support - 6%. Older respondents are more likely to support such an initiative, while young people are less supportive.
  • 55% heard about the Victory Gardens initiative (28% heard a lot, 27% heard something). 45% know nothing about it. 82% are optimistic about this idea.
  • 56% said they have a plot of land and plan to plant a garden this year; another 9% - do not have their own land, but also plan to plant relatives, acquaintances. Only 8% said they have a garden but will not plant anything. Another quarter do not have plots. Most of those who will plant gardens are residents of the west and center of the country. Among peasants, 83%, residents of small towns - 65%, and regional centers - 50%.
  • 33% said they attended church on Easter, 67% did not. This is higher than during the first quarantine (April 2020), but lower than before 2020. Most of those in the church on Easter were among the inhabitants of the western regions and the rural population.

Audience: the population of Ukraine aged 18 and older in all oblasts, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas.
The sample is representative by age, sex and type of settlement.
Sample population: 1000 respondents.
Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews).
