A Swedish volunteer was injured as a result of a Russian drone attack in the Poltava region during a humanitarian mission in Ukraine, according to the Swedish outlet Sweden Herald.

The incident reportedly occurred after the delivery of humanitarian aid. The volunteers had stopped at a petrol station in the Poltava region when a Russian drone exploded near their vehicle. The Swedish volunteer sustained minor shrapnel injuries.

“The person will see a doctor but everyone is doing well under the circumstances. Everyone who has gone knows about these risks. We have a safety mindset but this attack was difficult to predict. This is what life looks like for the Ukrainian population every day,” said Kristina Leivik, co-founder of the organization Send to Ukraine.

The organisation travelled down in a convoy of trucks, off-road vehicles and rescue vehicles. According to Kristina Leivik, many people support the organisation with financial funds and equipment.

There are many people behind us. Without their support, we would not have been able to carry out the trips.

The organization Send to Ukraine has already carried out its 31st humanitarian mission to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war. After completing the trip, the volunteers travelled to western Ukraine, from where they plan to return to Sweden.
