The animated film "I Died in Irpin" by director Anastasiia Falileieva has been selected for the competition program of the International Animated Film Festival in Annecy. The National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine shared this news on social media.

The 11-minute film has been selected for the Perspective Short Films program. The festival will take place in Annecy, France, from June 9 to June 15.

Previously, the director mentioned that this film is about her experience spending 10 days in Irpin at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and how she managed to survive. The film also includes many archival materials from the artist's childhood. It is created using a complex and rare technique - charcoal animation on paper.

"The film is not so much about the war and how the Russians came to kill us, but more about family relationships, particularly in someone else's family where I found myself, and about how indifference can kill more than Russians. How people look at life and values differently," she noted.

The film was supported and funded by the national film funds of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as the German Film Academy.

According to the director, the film is expected to premiere in Ukraine in the fall.

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival was founded in 1960. Initially, the festival was held every two years, but since 1997, it has become an annual event. It is one of the four international animation film festivals sponsored by the International Animated Film Association (Association d'International du Film d'Animation or ASIFA). The competition includes animated films made using various techniques (drawn animation, cut-out animation, clay animation, etc.).
