At the Munich Security Conference, the premiere of the historical biographical drama Malevich directed by Daria Onyshchenko will take place.

This was reported by the State Film Agency of Ukraine on Facebook.

"On February 15, 2025, at the Munich Security Conference, the premiere of the historical drama Malevich by director Daria Onyshchenko will take place. This is an important event for Ukrainian cinema and culture," the message states.

The film tells the story of Kazimir Malevich's struggle for artistic freedom and his opposition to the Soviet regime. It is a kaleidoscope of events from the life of the world-renowned Ukrainian artist, who alone battles totalitarian power for the right to create "free" art.

It is noted that a series of Ukrainian events focusing on the role of culture in countering Russian aggression and hybrid warfare will also take place within the Conference. The screening of Malevich will be part of this initiative, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage in the global discourse on security.

The film is scheduled for release in theaters in May 2025.

"The field of culture is part of the struggle, and justice regarding cultural heritage plays an important role in understanding sustainable peace, first and foremost for Ukraine, but also for the whole world. Therefore, it is important for us to explain why Kazimir Malevich is part of Ukrainian culture, just like many other names that Russia has appropriated for centuries," comments creative producer Tetiana.

The film was created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine, the Film Center of Serbia, and the production companies 435FILMS, BIG HAND FILMS, LEHMANN SISTERS, REVOLVER, ART & POPCORN, and DIM FILMHOUSE.
