Participants of the Coalition of the Willing have completed their work on the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, and contacts with the United States are now expected.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"We have finished working on the issue of security guarantees that I mentioned earlier – they are important for the safety of Europeans, the French, and Ukrainians. In the coming days, key discussions will take place between US representatives and the Coalition of the Willing to clarify the role of the United States in these guarantees, in line with what we agreed last week," the French leader said.
He added that, in parallel, talks will be held in which Russia could provide US officials with full clarity on whether it is actually ready for peace.
Macron emphasized that he has no doubt Western countries will remain united in supporting Ukraine, upholding international law, and ensuring peace and security in Europe.
The Coalition of the Willing includes those European countries that have expressed readiness to provide Ukraine with security guarantees after the war with Russia ends.
Some states have already announced their intention to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, which would act as a deterrent to the aggressor. These forces are not expected to be deployed along the front line — instead, they would be stationed in several major Ukrainian cities.
