The Defense Forces shot down 66 Shahed-type attack drones that Russia used to attack Ukraine on the evening of September 23, according to a report by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
During the night of September 24 (from 8:00 p.m. on September 23 to 7:00 a.m. on September 24), the Air Force’s radar troops detected and tracked 85 Russian aerial threats:
- One Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Rostov region;
- Two guided aviation missiles, Kh-59/69, from the Bryansk region;
- One missile (type to be determined) from the Kursk region;
- 81 Shahed attack drones from the Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions.
The primary targets were northern and central Ukraine.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled the aerial assault.
As a result of the air defense battle, 66 attack drones were shot down over the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions.
Additionally, 13 drones were lost in several regions of Ukraine due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces.
