Kyiv in 2022. A car races at breakneck speed through the city at dawn. Filmed from a subjective camera angle in a single unedited shot, this film captures the emotions in a state of emergency caused by the war.

"It's a Date" is the first feature film directed by Nadiya Parfan. This is a story about the capital of a country in which a full-scale war continues, but life in all its manifestations does not stop.

A total of 20 short films were included in the Berlinale Shorts 2023 competition program.

"Even complex subjects are tackled with refreshing lightness without sacrificing their seriousness. It's exciting to see the creative tools filmmakers use to convey their stories and ideas," said Berlinale Short Films Director Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck.

The winners will be announced during the official birthday ceremony on February 25.

After the Berlinale, the film will be released online on the British platform Nowness.com and the Takflix platform, along with other movies of the Ukrainian Talents at Nowness special project, within which the film was shot.
