The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved for use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces an engineering ground robotic fire extinguishing complex.
The robotic fire extinguishing complex consists of a mobile tracked platform equipped with special equipment for delivering water under pressure or special foam to extinguish flames. Using a control panel, an operator directs the robot from a safe location to the fire's epicenter. The flow of liquid to the fire source can be adjusted remotely.
The firefighting robot can operate up to 2 km from the operator in open terrain and up to 400 meters in rough terrain. The operator receives images from the hazardous area where the fire is being extinguished through a video camera mounted on the platform.
Initially developed for civil emergency and rescue services, the robot has attracted military interest. It is particularly useful in areas with unexploded ordnance, near burning equipment with a risk of ammunition detonation, and other potentially dangerous situations that pose a threat to the lives and health of soldiers. In response to military requirements, the robotic platform has been upgraded with enhanced mobility, extended control range, and increased autonomous operation time.
The tracked chassis of the firefighting robot allows it to navigate difficult terrain, cross burning debris, and operate in extreme temperatures. It can also create a so-called "water wall" using its water cannon.
