One of the largest container carriers, the French company CMA CGM, has resumed services to the Brooklyn-Kyiv Port terminal at the Odessa Sea Port.

According to Viktor Berestenko, President of the Ukrainian Association of International Forwarders, the first vessel, Lila Canada, arrived on February 7, marking the first such entry since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The second arrival is expected on the 21st of this month, reports Liga.Biz.

CMA CGM is the second major container operator to resume direct services to Odessa with its own fleet.

The company will provide direct connections between Greece and Ukraine on the Piraeus – Istanbul – Odessa route.

Thanks to the resumption of shipping to the ports of Odessa region, namely the Chornomorsk Sea Fishing Port and Odessa Port, Ukraine's maritime container traffic in 2024 increased almost twofold compared to 2023, reaching 129,902 TEU.
