The Gonchar Museum and GUNIA Project are preparing a joint project "Ukraine and Ukrainians" with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The project team has announced that they will feature photographs, sketches by Ivan Gonchar, and original artistic fonts for the texts on 130 pages of the art album.
"Ukraine and Ukrainians" is an art album with a volume of 130 sheets, which includes photographs, sketches by Ivan Honchar and the author's artistic font for the texts. In this way, museum workers, creative personalities, art managers and scientists want to present Ukrainian cultural heritage and visualized historical memory to the world. The publication presents all regions of Ukraine, but the greatest attention is paid to those areas that were most affected by the humanitarian and man-made disasters of the last century, as well as the destruction of the current Russian-Ukrainian war.

In times of the great war and against the backdrop of Russia’s attempts to destroy everything Ukrainian, preserving and popularizing Ukrainian culture and identity is one of our key tasks. That is why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not hesitate to support the project of GUNIA and the Ivan Honchar Museum to republish this fundamental work, which Ivan Honchar worked on for 45 years. In this way, museum professionals, creative individuals, cultural managers, and researchers aim to present Ukrainian cultural heritage and visualized historical memory to the world.
"The album serves as an important reference point for the active part of Ukrainian society, for anyone who is now ready to explore their roots and preserve the memory of them, safeguarding the culture and history of the Ukrainian people. It is also intended for contemporary Ukrainian ethnologists, anthropologists, folklorists, museum professionals, cultural experts, and artists," explain Natalia Kamenska and Maria Havryliuk, founders of GUNIA Project.

The publication is accompanied by a selection of postcards. They emerged during the period of Russian aggression against Ukraine, a time of reassessment of history and the scale of cultural and human losses in the 20th and 21st centuries. That's why the authors draw attention to the cultural heritage of those regions affected by the war.
