The "Israeli Friends of Ukraine" movement has won a defamation lawsuit filed against blogger Dmitry Shatokhin, who writes under the pseudonym Dim Amor. He accused the movement, its leaders, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel of opacity in collecting and possible embezzlement of humanitarian aid intended for Ukraine.
The movement's interests were defended by lawyers Elena Gomelskaya and Limor Kleitman. The court ruled that Shatokhin could not substantiate his claims and is obligated to pay compensation of 50,000 shekels, including legal costs. The compensation will be paid in equal monthly installments of 2,000 shekels.
Additionally, the defendant must publish the court's decision on his website and is not allowed to remove it for six months. Shatokhin (Amor) sought media coverage to maximize the dissemination of his messages.
Currently, the Association of Press and Journalists in Israel reports that Shatokhin did not receive accreditation for 2024.
